Job summary

Dalata Hotel Group in Ireland is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support the hotel finance function. You will report to the Financial Controller and General Manager, helping to deliver accurate month-end close, robust controls, and insightful financial analysis to drive performance.

Qualifications

• Ambitious, confident and professional with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
• Accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, F&B or retail sectors.
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
• Knowledge of internal controls and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Commercial focus: review costs, KPI understanding and margin improvements; assist in monthly forecasts.
• People focus: support the Financial Controller and General Manager; contribute to training plans for non-financial managers.
• Controls and compliance: ensure robust financial controls and co-ordinate internal audits.
• Month-end: prepare lead schedules, reconcile accounts, manage income audit and liaise with Shared Service Centre.

As the Assistant Financial Controller, you will help ensure the efficient operation of the hotel’s finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, General Manager, and other departments to achieve business objectives.

Your Responsibilities

Commercial Focus

• Reviewing costs and implementing processes where savings can be made.
• Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure understanding of KPIs.
• Review margins and highlight where improvements can be made.
• Preparation and review weekly revenue and payroll forecasts
• A prominent & leading involvement in the month-end process.
• Champion weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Department.

People Focus

• Support and become a key advisor to both the Financial Controller and the General Manager.
• Assist in writing and implementing training plans and courses for non-financial managers within the hotel.
• In conjunction with the Financial Controller, help to gain a better understanding of financial issues.
• Ensure they are approachable and build relationships with the other Heads of Department and staff within the hotel.

Controls and Compliance

• Ensuring all financial controls and procedures across the hotel are robust, sustainable, maintained and updated.
• Internal Audit Reports and agree corrective actions.
• Champion the use of technology and more effective and efficient ways of doing business.

Month End

• Prepare the month-end lead schedule.
• Reconcile balance sheet control accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
• Income Audit management to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness.
• Engage with the Shared Service Centre and utilise technology to its best purpose.
• Manage the collection of debts on a timely basis.

Requirements

• We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
• The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other equivalent qualification)
• Strong Internal Control Awareness and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
