Job summary

Armont Recruitment is partnering with a well-established organisation in the FMCG and retail sector, seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their Meath finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role offers broad exposure to month-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and audits.

The ideal candidate is part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/IATI or equivalent) with at least two years' experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Part Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with 2+ years in accounting.
• Access to personal transport.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Perform month-end reconciliations, including intercompany balances.
• Prepare accruals, prepayments and fixed asset schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Assist with audit prep, statutory accounts and liaise with auditors.
• Maintain nominal ledger, including journal postings and reviews.
• Produce ad-hoc financial reports and support process improvements.
• Provide support across Accounts Payable/Receivable and wider finance team.

Armont have partnered with a well-established and highly successful organisation operating within the FMCG and retail sector. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Meath.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will play a key part in supporting the finance function across multiple business divisions. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to month-end reporting, financial analysis, reconciliations, budgeting and audit processes within a fast-paced commercial environment.

This opportunity will suit a Part-Qualified Accountant who is eager to further develop their accounting experience within a collaborative and faced-paced business environment.

The Role

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Perform month-end reconciliations, including intercompany balances and key control accounts.
• Prepare and maintain accruals, prepayments and fixed asset schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across the business.
• Assist with audit preparation, statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors.
• Maintain the nominal ledger, including journal postings and transaction reviews.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and support process improvement initiatives.
• Provide support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the wider finance team as required.

The Candidate

• Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, IATI or equivalent)

• Minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
