Job summary

OBFA Architects, based in Dublin City Centre, seeks a proactive BIM Co-ordinator/Technologist to lead BIM development within a ISO 19650 framework. You will model using Revit and drive BIM standards across projects from conception through to completion.

The role involves taking ownership of day-to-day BIM processes, collaborating with directors and project teams, and representing the practice in Public Works delivery. Experience with CDE and site presence is beneficial.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a design consultancy or design-build contractor.
• Strong understanding of BIM ISO 19650-2 and potential to advance to BIM Co-ordinator.
• Expert in using Revit with knowledge of family management, parameters and model development.
• Good technical attitude, aptitude and ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D & 2D drawings/models for Architectural projects.
• Produce statutory and contract documentation in a structured manner.
• Liaise with project teams to produce drawings on time with limited supervision.
• Review work for discrepancies or errors.
• Shape and implement the company’s BIM strategy and digital processes.
• Maintain BIM standards and workflows; keep project folders aligned with BIM standards.
• Manage the practice’s CDE to ensure consistency across client, design team and contractor.
• Keep up to date with new technologies and identify products to improve efficiency.
• Assist with site surveys and project administration/inspection.
• Communicate with design teams and other professionals.

As part of our move to formal accreditation under ISO 19650 this year, OBFA are hiring a new BIM Co-ordinator and Technologist.

OBFA Architects are an Architectural Practice based in Dublin City Centre. We work in both the public and private sector and are undertaking new projects nationally. Our work is diverse, covering Housing, Education, Culture and Commercial. We are also involved in multiple works interacting with Historic Structures and works requiring conservation architecture input.

OBFA are a young, flexible practice and we place a high value on collegiate approaches to design, professional practice, and on-site construction experience.

The successful candidate will -

• have the opportunity to work on a broad variety of projects which vary from small infill developments and feasibility studies, to protected structures to multimillion Euro new build developments
• have a strong education and experience in modelling development within a structured ISO 19650 compliant environment - OBFA operate in Autodesk Revit solely
• manage all aspects of drafting on your projects from conception through to completion using Revit in a BIM ISO 19650 environment
• take ownership of the day-to-day BIM process, helping to develop, maintain and improve the company’s BIM standards, systems and workflows, which are currently undergoing accreditation
• have a broad role – representing the practice as a Lead Appointed Party in the delivery of Public Works
• report to OBFA Directors and Associate Directors and will involve contributing to the successful delivery of projects from design through to completion

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and develop OBFAs BIM strategy and systems and will work with the practice architects to model and design as a partner professional – including site presence and management of Contractor Data.

Job Requirements

• 3-5 years’ previous experience in a design consultancy or design-build contractor
• Have a clear understanding of the requirements of BIM ISO 19650-2, with the ability to develop into a BIM Co-ordinator role and take ownership of the company’s BIM processes, standards and systems
• Expert in using Revit, with a detailed knowledge of family management, parameters and model development
• Good technical attitude, aptitude and ability
• Experience developing detailed, co-ordinated design models and drawings and schedules for construction
• Experience of CDE management, PointCloud models, rendering and/or drone use advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Prepare 3d & 2d drawings/ models for Architectural projects

• Liaise with project teams to produce drawings in line with project requirements in a timely and efficient manner with limited supervision or direction
• Review work by others, identifying any discrepancies or errors
• Play a key role in shaping and continuing to implement the company’s BIM strategy and identifying opportunities to improve digital processes and efficiencies
• Take ownership of the company’s BIM processes and support the ongoing development of BIM standards, systems and workflowsKeeping project folders updated and organized to Company BIM Standards
• Manage practice’s CDE to ensure BIM Standards are being maintained across client, design team and contractor
• Keep abreast of new technologies and developments in the industry and identify new products that could improve efficiencies
• Assist with site surveys and Project Administration / Inspection
• Correspondence with design team & other construction professionals including Architects, Engineers, Contractors and Clients
