Job summary

Morgan McKinley is supporting a leading public sector organisation in Dublin City Centre for a Data Protection Specialist on an initial 6‑month fixed-term contract. The role requires hybrid on-site presence with two days per week in the office.

Key duties include advising on DPIAs, supporting incident response and data governance, updating ROPA, and translating GDPR requirements into practical guidance for internal stakeholders. A minimum of five years in a data protection role is expected.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in a data protection role.
• Excellent understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on data risks and regulatory requirements.
• Act as a delegate for the Data Protection Officer as required.
• Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Support incident and data breach management activities.
• Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).

Our client a leading public sector organisation has an immediate need to hire a Data Protection Specialist on an immediate 6 month fixed term contract. The job is based in Dublin City Centre with two days required on-site per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with stakeholders to provide guidance and constructive challenge on projects and new initiatives to manage data risks and regulatory requirements within the organisation.
• Act as a delegate for the Data Protection Officer (DPO) as required.
• Provide advice on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Support incident and data breach management activities.
• Support file management and administration activities.
• Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Manage the Data Protection mailbox, including business-as-usual queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the development and maintenance of data protection policies and procedures.
• Minimum of five years' experience in a data protection role.
• Excellent understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and clear advice.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Experience identifying, assessing, and advising on data protection and information governance risks.
• Practical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and delivering outcomes.
