Job summary

Toast is seeking an Android engineer on the Guest Engagement team in Ireland. You will design, build and maintain scalable Android apps running on Toast POS hardware used in thousands of restaurants, shipping features end-to-end and iterating based on real-world use.

Join a collaborative team and leverage AI tooling to enhance the guest experience. You will work with UX, PM and QA in an Agile environment and partner with backend services to raise the Android experience.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience of modern Android tooling and frameworks.
• Minimum 2–4 years of Android development in Kotlin and/or Java, with production apps.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, agile delivery, and shipping usable software incrementally.
• Excited about AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents (Claude Code or similar).
• Comfortable reading and integrating with backend services (REST/GraphQL).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high performing, scalable Android solutions for Toast POS hardware.
• Ship features end-to-end from design through rollout, monitoring for success and iterating.
• Build great UX using best practices of modern Android development.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders in Agile ceremonies.
• Partner with team members across the company to raise the Android experience.

Job description

• As an engineer on the Guest Engagement team, your mission will be creating the next generation of engagement experiences that help bring new guests into the restaurants, and turn them into regulars
• You will work closely with UX, PM and QA, and have access to state of the art AI tools, to deliver some real impact on real people
• Design, build and maintain high performing, flexible, and scalable Android solutions running on Toast POS hardware in thousands of restaurants
• Ship features end-to-end, from design through rollout, monitoring for success and iterating based on real-world use
• Build great UX using best practices of modern Android development
• Be an awesome teammate who’s all in on collaboration and collective success
• Create products and features that help restaurants deliver a best-in-class guest experience
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering stakeholders, and actively participate in Agile ceremonies
• Partner with team members and other engineers across the company to raise the bar for the Android experience at Toast
