Job summary

Acuity Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer (AI and Python) to influence technical direction and build enterprise-grade AI-enabled software. You will lead a hands-on team, set engineering standards, and partner with stakeholders to shape cloud-native systems from day one.

You will drive PoCs to production, ensure high-quality code, and mentor engineers while staying ahead of AI and cloud trends. This role emphasizes strong technical judgement and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong professional software engineering background (10+ years valued).
• Proven technical leadership in a delivery team and mentoring engineers.
• Strong Python engineering with maintainable OOP, typing, async, service layers (FastAPI).
• Experience designing REST APIs with reliability, observability, performance.
• Cloud experience with at least one hyperscaler (Azure preferred).
• Containerized services across environments; Kubernetes experience preferred.
• Solid DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing (PyTest).
• Security fundamentals: AuthN/AuthZ and secure build/deploy practices.
• Agile methodologies with cross-functional collaboration across product, architecture, data/AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AI engineering team with hands-on contribution and clear example.
• Design and deliver cloud-native, container-first services for enterprise use.
• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to shape architecture and patterns.
• Translate strategy into practical engineering decisions and production-ready PoCs.
• Write high-quality Python code and define engineering standards for maintainability.
• Drive CI/CD, containerisation, Kubernetes, and cloud operations to scale.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and pairing to enable growth.
• Stay current with AI and cloud tech and translate new approaches into value.
• Help hire and build a high-caliber team and foster a collaborative culture.
