Position Overview
We are seeking an AI & Data Analytics Intern to support practical business improvement initiatives across Astatine. The intern will work with colleagues from several departments and contribute to live projects involving data analysis, management reporting, Microsoft Copilot, process improvement and workflow automation. This is a business-facing role suited to a student who enjoys working with data, understanding how organisations operate and applying technology to real business challenges. Key Workstreams
- Support the delivery of Astatine’s portfolio reporting initiative across the project lifecycle.
- Assist with gathering, reviewing, cleaning and validating data from business systems such as HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SharePoint and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Help identify data gaps, inconsistencies and opportunities to improve data quality and standardisation.
- Support the development and testing of Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to ensure reports are useful, accurate and easy to understand.
2. AI Adoption & Process Automation
- Support the organisation’s adoption of Microsoft Copilot.
- Engage with users across different departments to identify repetitive, manual or time-consuming business processes.
- Help assess and prioritise opportunities where AI, Copilot Agents or automated workflows could reduce manual effort.
- Research, prototype and test practical AI-enabled solutions, Copilot Agents and Power Automate workflows.
- Help develop simple guidance and examples that encourage the effective use of AI tools.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work in line with Astatine’s information security, data protection and acceptable-use requirements.
- Support other suitable AI, data, reporting or automation initiatives that arise during the placement.
Candidate Profile
We are more interested in curiosity, practical problem-solving and willingness to learn than any previous experience. The ideal candidate will:
- Be studying Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence etc.
- Have an interest in using data and technology to solve real business problems.
- Be comfortable working with spreadsheets and structured data.
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Be able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Be organised, self-motivated and comfortable asking questions when requirements are unclear.
- Be willing to work collaboratively across different departments and business functions.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot or Power Platform technologies.
- Some experience with Power BI, Excel, Python or similar data-analysis tools.
- An understanding of data visualisation, data quality or basic data modelling concepts.
- Experience from a college project, internship or personal project involving analytics, automation or generative AI.
