Job summary

n8n seeks an Agentic Engineering Platform Engineer to keep our AI-native developer platform safe, fast, and productive. You will maintain and evolve platform foundations, guardrails, and processes, working with Architecture, AI/Agents, Security, and product engineering teams to enable safe agentic development across the lifecycle.

You’ll define task categories, build isolated execution environments, integrate agentic workflows with Linear, GitHub, CI, and reviews, and shape how engineers

Qualifications

• Experience with autonomous coding agents or AI-driven development tooling.
• Practical experience building or operating AI-assisted software development workflows.
• Strong software engineering background in platform engineering, dev exp, infrastructure, tooling, CI/CD.
• Ability to lead a first-of-a-kind technical initiative end-to-end.
• Deep understanding of GitHub, CI, testing, monorepos, and code review processes.
• Sound judgment around permissions, secrets, and sandboxing.
• Ability to design benchmarks, quality signals, and adoption metrics.
• Excellent written communication for repo instructions and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Define safe task categories for autonomous agents and required reviews.
• Design isolated execution environments to protect secrets and sensitive systems.
• Build pilot workflows and pilot PRs from agentled tasks.
• Create and maintain agent playbooks, ownership metadata, and guidelines.
• Improve developer workflows, repo structure, and testability.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, AI/Agents, and productEng to set boundaries.
