Job summary

AstraZeneca Alexion (AstraZeneca Rare Disease) in Dublin is seeking an Accounting Manager for a 7‑month fixed-term contract. You will own IFRS month-end/quarter-end closes for assets, capex, and leases, provide technical accounting leadership, and partner with global finance teams to ensure accurate reporting.

The role requires a professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), 5+ years of post‑qualification experience, and strong Excel skills with IFRS/US GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• 5+ years post-qualification experience in accounting/controllership
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong numeracy and analytical capability
• Solid understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP; experience with SOX controls

Responsibilities

• Own IFRS month-end and quarter-end close for defined areas (Intangible assets, Capex, embedded leases)
• Provide accounting guidance on capital projects in line with AZ Group policy
• Collaborate with local and global Finance teams; liaise with GFS for close tasks
• Prepare APIO month-end/quarter-end reporting and variance commentary
• Maintain balance sheet integrity through reconciliations and timely resolution of items
• Support impairment assessments and standard cost analyses
• Assist with local statutory audits; liaison with external auditors
• Assess US GAAP differences for sub-consolidation; document communications
• Engage Tax on compliance activities including R&D tax credit
• Support SOX controls and internal/external audit walkthroughs
• Prepare ad hoc management accounts and packs; drive process improvements
• Support AZ integration and S/4HANA deployment as needed
