Job summary

DB Recruitment in Cork, Ireland is seeking a commercially minded Accountant to join our technology company. This role combines core accounting with invoice management, contract review and commercial support, working with finance, sales, legal, procurement and leadership.

The successful candidate will help ensure financial accuracy, strong governance and efficient operations, with 4 days in Cork office and 1 day remote.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA).
• 3+ years' accounting experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts.
• Experience reviewing commercial contracts or supplier agreements.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• High attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Complete month-end and year-end close processes.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accuracy.
• Prepare VAT, payroll, and statutory returns.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with Irish accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Review and approve supplier invoices.
• Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and on time.
• Monitor accounts receivable and payable.
• Resolve invoice queries with suppliers and customers.
• Maintain strong credit control processes.
• Improve invoice approval workflows and financial controls.
• Review customer and supplier contracts before execution.
• Identify commercial, financial, and contractual risks.
• Ensure pricing, payment terms, milestones, and obligations are commercially appropriate.
• Work with legal and sales teams to negotiate financial terms where required.
• Maintain a central contract register.
• Monitor contract renewals, expiry dates, and commercial commitments.
• Ensure contractual obligations are reflected accurately in financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting
