HRconsultants.ie is assisting a well-established motor dealership in Offaly to appoint an experienced Accountant with strong operational experience. The role blends day-to-day accounting with involvement across the wider operations and business, offering genuine responsibility and variety.

The successful candidate will manage AP/AR, month-end, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting, while contributing to budgeting and commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant with relevant experience.
• Experience in a busy commercial environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
• Experience across both finance and operational areas.

Responsabilités

• Manage day-to-day accounting function including AP, AR, reconciliations and payments.
• Prepare journals, month-end accounts and financial reporting.
• Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow and debtor/creditor activity.
• Oversee supplier accounts and resolve queries.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Monitor financial performance and provide management with relevant information.
• Work closely with management on operational and commercial matters.
• Support day-to-day running of the business and identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Assist with stock, purchasing and other operational areas where required.
• Ensure strong financial controls and accurate reporting across the business.
• Take ownership of ad hoc finance and operational projects.

Our client, a well-established and growing motor dealership in Co. Offaly, is looking to appoint an experienced Accountant with strong operational experience to join the business.

This is a broad, hands-on role that will combine day-to-day accounting responsibilities with involvement across the wider operations of the business. It would suit an experienced accountant who enjoys being close to the day-to-day running of a business and wants a role with genuine responsibility and variety.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting function, including AP, AR, reconciliations and payments.
• Prepare journals, month-end accounts and financial reporting.
• Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow and debtor/creditor activity.

About You

• Qualified or part-qualified Accountant, or an experienced Accountant with strong relevant experience.
• Previous experience working in a busy commercial environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
• Experience across both finance and operational areas.
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand the wider business, not just the numbers.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident communicating with management and colleagues across the business.
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership and get things done.
• Motor industry experience is desirable but not essential.
