Job summary

N & E Precision Engineering in Longford, Ireland, is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machine Setter / Operator to join our precision engineering team. You will set up, prove out and operate CNC milling machines delivering high-precision components to engineering drawings and GD&T standards.

The role involves 3-, 4-, and 5-axis work with programming experience a significant advantage; you will work 40 hours per week with evening shift options depending on operations.

Qualifications

• Experience as a CNC setter/operator in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Able to read engineering drawings and inspect parts.
• Experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis).
• Prepare tooling, work-holding, offsets and settings.
• Read drawings, tolerances and GD&T requirements.
• Program, edit and prove out CNC programs where required.
• Manufacture precision components to the required quality standards.
• Carry out first-off and in-process dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Make authorised program and offset adjustments where required.
• Maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling lists and production documentation.
• Identify and report machine, tooling or quality issues.
• Maintain CNC machines and the working area in a clean, safe and organised condition.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and Maintenance teams.
• Follow all company health and safety and quality procedures.

About the Role

N & E Precision Engineering is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machine Setter / Operator to join our precision engineering team in Longford.The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, proving out and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.The role will involve working with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining, with previous CNC programming experience being a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis equipment.
• Prepare tooling, work-holding, offsets and machine settings.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T requirements.
• Program, edit and prove out CNC programs where required.
• Manufacture precision components to the required quality standards.
• Carry out first-off and in-process dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a CNC Setter / Operator in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CNC milling and 4- or 5-axis machining.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience with dimensional inspection and precision measuring equipment.
• Good understanding of CNC tooling, offsets and machine setup.
• CNC programming experience is a significant advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Hours

The successful candidate may be required to work 40 hours a week, either:

• Evening Shift: 4:30 pm – 1:00 amShift allocation will depend on operational requirements
