Job summary

PT Tangan Kita Berkarya in Surabaya seeks an experienced Wine Butler/Sommelier to provide expert wine service and engaging guest experiences. You will present wines, advise on pairings, and maintain precise wine handling standards for a premium dining environment.

You will support wine dinners and events while collaborating with Service, Kitchen, Bar, and Management to ensure flawless guest satisfaction and memorable experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of Senior High School / Vocational High School (SMA/SMK); hospitality or tourism background is a plus.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant, hotel, fine dining, wine bar, or hospitality environment.
• WSET certification or other wine certifications is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills with confidence engaging guests.
• Genuine passion for wine and hospitality.
• Well-groomed, polished, and professional appearance.
• Willing to work on a shift basis, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Recommend wines based on the guest's menu selection, taste preferences, occasion, and requirements.
• Conduct wine presentations, including bottle opening, decanting, pouring, and serving per standards.
• Explain wine characteristics, including grape varieties, regions, styles, and tasting profiles.
• Drive wine sales through suggestive selling and food-and-wine pairing.
• Ensure wines are stored, handled, and served at correct temperatures.
• Maintain wine inventory records, bottle openings, consumption, and wastage.
• Provide personalized, attentive wine service to VIP guests and special occasions.
• Collaborate with Service, Kitchen, Bar, and Management for a seamless dining experience.
• Support wine dinners, tastings, private dining, and other events.
• Continuously develop wine knowledge and hospitality skills.

• Explain wine characteristics, including grape varieties, regions, styles, and tasting profiles, in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner.
• Drive wine sales through effective suggestive selling, personalized recommendations, and food-and-wine pairing.
• Ensure wines are properly stored, handled, and served at the appropriate temperature and according to established standards.
• Maintain accurate records of wine inventory, bottle openings, consumption, and wastage.
• Provide personalized and attentive wine service to VIP guests and special occasions.
• Collaborate closely with the Service, Kitchen, Bar, and Management teams to ensure a seamless dining experience.
• Support wine dinners, wine tasting events, private dining experiences, and other special events.
• Continuously develop wine knowledge, service techniques, and hospitality skills.
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism, attention to detail, and guest engagement at all times.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum education of Senior High School / Vocational High School (SMA/SMK); a background in Hospitality or Tourism is an advantage.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a restaurant, hotel, fine dining, premium dining, wine bar, or hospitality environment.
• Previous experience as a Wine Butler, Wine Steward, Sommelier, Captain, or Senior Waiter is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of wine, including grape varieties, wine regions, wine styles, and food pairing.
• WSET certification or other recognized wine certifications is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills with confidence in engaging and interacting with guests.
• Genuine passion for wine and hospitality.
• Well-groomed, polished, and professional appearance.
