Austin delivers a global and local presence in the world’s principal mining regions delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions, delivered on time, and backed by a life of product support.## Key Responsibilities* Operate **Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)** equipment for fabrication, repair, and assembly work.* Read and interpret: Engineering drawings Fabrication drawings Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) Welding symbols* Prepare materials through cleaning, grinding, and fitting.* Inspect weld quality and ensure compliance with standards.* Maintain welding equipment and perform basic troubleshooting.* Follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.* Work closely with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors.* Report equipment issues and safety hazards.* Participate in training and continuous improvement activities. ## Minimum Qualifications* SMK (Vocational High School) in Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.* **2–3 years of FCAW welding experience** in: Heavy fabrication Mining equipment manufacturing Shipbuilding Steel structure fabrication ## Required Technical Skills* Strong FCAW welding capability.* Qualified or experienced in welding positions: **2F, 3F, 4F** **3G, 4G*** Welding carbon steel plates of various thicknesses.* Multi-pass welding techniques.* Ability to use grinders and fabrication tools.* Ability to read WPS, welding symbols, and technical drawings. **Preferred Experience**Experience in fabrication or repair of:• Dump truck bodies, buckets, trays, excavator attachments, hoppers, chutes• Wear plate installation (Hardox/Bisalloy or equivalent) ## Ideal Candidate ProfileAn ideal candidate would be an experienced FCAW welder who can independently read technical drawings, perform quality welds in both fillet and groove positions (2F/3F/4F/3G/4G), work safely in a fabrication environment, and contribute to production efficiency and quality standards.At Austin Engineering our people are valued as vital members of our diverse and expanding workforce.
