TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT

PT. Baruna Raya Logistic is looking for an experienced and proactive Technical Superintendent to join our organization. The ideal candidate would have a proven track record in providing strong competence and ability, especially in the offshore support vessel industry. He /She would have overall responsibility for vessel's maintenance and ensuring there are no breakdowns.

Job Description

The successful incumbent will manage the day-today technical operations in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as government regulations and customer expectations. These responsibilities include personal and operational safety and environmental protection. This position requires domestic and/or international travel.

Summary

Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, repair and safe operations of all the engineering needs for assigned vessels (AHTS, Crew Boats, Utility Boats) and equipment.

General Responsibilities
  • Develop repair specifications and manage the repair of the vessels by overseeing all activities directly related to the repairs.
  • Liaison with the vessel Chief Engineer/Captain on required maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate with Procurement department to manage and negotiate contractor selection, contract management and contractors work by setting up service to vessels, ensuring regulatory inspections are scheduled timely and controlling expenditures within designated projects.
  • Monitor and coordinate vessel certification inspections with external and internal customers.
  • Survey, plan, coordinate and oversee all routine maintenance and repairs performed by vendors during turnarounds for primary for line haul service/secondarily for contract services.
  • Perform advanced planning for and regularly attend vessels as a team member during times of out of service, layup periods and dry-docking.
  • Work with warehouse personnel requesting fleet spare equipment be dispatched to support the upkeep of the vessels.
  • Coordinate with Procurement department to create PO’s/WO’s, review and close outstanding maintenance tasks, review/approve parts requisitions and review vessel reports.
  • Work with procurement department to assist in the purchasing of supplies. Issue and complete all service purchase orders for assigned vessels.
  • Manage the financial updating of purchase orders to the invoices.
  • Develop maintenance and repair cost analysis sheets and monitor the budget.
  • Assist in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for vessel equipment.
  • Ensure the engineering procedures and policies are periodically reviewed, modified and implemented.
Education And Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field; 10+ years in an marine engineering related field may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirements.
  • Maritime graduate preferred. EXPERIENCE 5 or more years’ experience in marine engineering, sailing onboard a vessel. (Offshore support ships such as AHTS, Crew Boats, Utility Boats etc.,).
  • A proven track record of success in technical and managerial positions with relevant maritime organizations.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY

Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. COMPETENCIES Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, as well as perform financial analysis. Ability to indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees.

Skills & Abilities

Sound knowledge of quality and regulatory disciplines (ISM/ISO), OCIMF regulations as well as the ability to carry out investigations and analysis. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), organization, planning and prioritization skills. Sound judgement, ability to balance business needs with the role of the employee advocate. A creative, enquiring and logical mind. Ability to analyze and interpret technical information and drawings. Ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals. Strong project management skills. High degree of creativity and initiative exhibiting strong troubleshooting skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time. Requires routine after hour and weekend work. Requires ability to travel on occasion, some of which may be international. High degree of creativity and initiative exhibiting strong troubleshooting skills.
