Job summary

The Head of Mining Operations role is based in Central Province, Papua New Guinea, and leads all underground mining activities across the operation to deliver safe, productive, and commercially viable production.

You will steer mine development, production planning, contractor management, and workforce capability while ensuring compliance with statutory mining regulations and international safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• PNG work eligibility and CoC or ability to obtain one.
• 10+ years in underground mining with leadership roles.
• Fluent English in written and spoken form.
• Proven ability to lead remote FIFO operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead underground mining operations, including development, production, ground support, and services.
• Develop short/medium/long-term mine plans aligned with targets and budgets.
• Ensure safety leadership and compliance with Mine Safety Management System.
• Manage budgets, OPEX, and capex while driving cost optimization.
• Oversee contractor performance and ensure productivity and safety targets.
• Mentor Mining Superintendents and engineers; foster leadership development.
• Drive continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
• Maintain high-performance risk management and environmental standards.
