PT SCG Barito Logistics is seeking a Transportation Sourcing and Procurement Deputy Assistant Manager in Indonesia to lead carrier sourcing, cost analysis, rate negotiation, and vendor performance tracking. You will manage inland, sea freight, barge, and other modes to optimize logistics operations and supply chain efficiency.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years in transportation procurement or logistics, with strong negotiation, vendor management, and TMS experience.
This role focuses on transportation carrier sourcing, cost analysis, rate negotiation, and vendor performance tracking in collaboration with related departments. You will manage inland, sea freight, barge, and other transportation modes to optimize logistics operations and supply chain efficiency.
Key responsibilities
Negotiate competitive rates, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs) with logistics providers, including trucking companies, freight forwarders, barge operators, and shipping lines
Maintain and evaluate a portfolio of approved transport vendors to ensure competitive pricing and high delivery reliability
Oversee the bidding process for transportation services, analyzing RFQs to ensure cost-effectiveness
Plan the most cost-effective and efficient distribution routes to program and customer sites
Track the movement of goods in real-time, proactively identifying and resolving supply chain bottlenecks
Ensure all shipping and procurement activities strictly comply with local and international transport laws, safety standards, and government regulations
Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions, carrier failures, or global commodity fluctuations
Manage cargo insurance policies and process freight claims for damaged, lost, or delayed goods
Prepare logistics budgets and continuously monitor transportation expenses to optimize overall supply chain costs
Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate on-time delivery rates, carrier capacity, and vendor performance
Job Specification
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics Management, Business Administration, or a related field
2 to 4 years of proven experience in transportation procurement, strategic sourcing, or logistics management
Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to conduct field visits to solve problems
Proficiency in computer systems (e.g., SAP, Ms. Excel, Ms. Power Point)
Transportation Management Systems (TMS) experience is highly preferred
English communication in professional role
