Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a Technical Expert, Geologist to lead underground geology at our Indonesian mines. You will manage core geological interpretation, 3D modelling, and ore body knowledge to support design, draw control, and reconciliation processes across Grasberg operations.

The role emphasizes data integration with geotechnical and hydrology teams, mentoring national staff, and delivering expert geological recommendations to leadership for safe, productive mining.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or Earth Science with at least ten years of underground mining geology experience.
• Expertise in structural geology and 3D geological modelling for underground mining.
• Ability to interpret sparse and complex geological data and communicate results to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in geology to PTFI’s mines.
• Develop reliable geological models and domain definitions for mine design and draw control.
• Coach and mentor national staff to build capacity and transfer knowledge.
• Ensure data quality and integration of geology with geotechnical and hydrology teams.
• Advise on geological decisions from infill drilling to model updates and ore/waste reconciliation.
