Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a Technical Expert, Geologist for Papua, Indonesia to lead underground geology activities. You will own geological data quality, develop reliable models, and guide design with structural and lithological controls across KL, GBC, DMLZ, and related operations.

Requirements include a PhD? (no), a Bachelor's in Geology with 10+ years of underground mining experience, strong communication skills, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related Earth Science field with extensive underground mining experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in structural geology and 3D geological modelling for mine design.
• Strong ability to interpret complex geological data and communicate results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in geology for underground mines.
• Develop reliable geological models and domain definitions for mine design and draw control.
• Assist in developing and mentoring the Underground Geology group and partnering with contractors and labs.
• Interpretation, modelling and reconciliation for caving operations and stoping activities.
