Job summary

Grab in Jakarta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Mobile (Android) to own end-to-end Android features within the Consumer Experience team. You will design, implement, and operate secure, high-quality mobile software, partnering with product and data teams to ship scalable experiences.

You will mentor peers, drive code reviews, and help shape the mobile platform for performance and reliability. The role is on-site in Jakarta with strong collaboration across engineering, design, and product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience; 4+ years specializing in Android.
• Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and CI/CD basics.
• Experience delivering end-to-end features and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and write in RxJava and/or Kotlin.
• Collaborate with mobile and backend engineers, designers, data scientists and product managers to build features.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain high standards.

Join the Consumer Experience (CX) Engineering team - we work on a diverse set of consumer problems spanning across core experiences that power the UX navigation and transaction funnels, search and discovery of content and services, user lifecycle covering user growth, engagement and loyalty and the critical platform mission of mobile application developer experience. We are on an exciting mission to connect consumers to Grab's marketplace by allowing them to discover and engage with Grab's services and partners.

Get to Know the Role

You are a Senior Engineer who designs, builds, operates, and monitors secure, high-quality software systems. You will partner with technical and non-technical team members from product design through rollout, drive project momentum, and uplift the team through mentorship and process improvements.

You will report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager, and you will be based on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and write in RxJava and/or Kotlin.
• Collaborate with mobile and backend engineers, designers, data scientists and product managers to build features
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Brainstorm ideas, identify problems, propose and implement solutions geared towards scale and performance
• Take full ownership of projects that are built to meet functional and non-functional requirements of our users and partners.
• Design, implement, instrument and deploy highly performant and reusable Android components for operational excellence programs
• Lead collaboration across teams and roles, to resolve ambiguous, multi dimensional business, legal, and product needs.
• Participate in interview loops to help Grab continue hiring top industry talent
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (4+ years specializing in Android) and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Understanding of CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures), system internals, CI/CD pipelines, and app observability tools (crash analytics, remote debugging).
• Experience managing end-to-end features for large-scale applications with analytical, critical-thinking, and design skills.
• High accountability, clear English articulation, and familiarity with applying Generative AI tools to enhance productivity.
