Job summary

Grab is seeking an experienced iOS engineer to design, build, and operate secure, reliable mobile systems, based on-site in Jakarta. You will collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to translate requirements into scalable iOS solutions and mentor junior engineers to raise engineering practices.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, performance optimization, and platform parity across iOS and Android, while upholding security and quality

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional iOS development experience with Swift and iOS SDKs.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• End-to-end feature ownership across large-scale applications.
• Knowledge of iOS architecture, lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance.
• Experience with API design, versioning, backward compatibility, XCTest, CI/CD, and release management.
• Experience diagnosing production issues via logs, metrics, traces, and debugging tools.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and English proficiency; mentoring engineers or influencing technical direction.
• Exposure to UIKit, SwiftUI, mobile security, observability, and developer tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain iOS SDK capabilities, native entry points, and reusable APIs for MiniApps.
• Improve SDK reliability, performance, security, observability, and backward compatibility across Grab app releases.
• Drive cross-platform parity by defining contracts and consistent developer experiences.
• Collaborate with backend teams on Horus services, authentication, telemetry, and platform integrations.
• Develop automated tests, release tooling, and technical documentation for faster partner integrations.
• Investigate production issues, strengthen monitoring, and contribute to incident response and post-incident improvements.
• Partner with product, design, QA, and partner teams to translate requirements into scalable mobile solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and improving engineering standards.

Get to Know the Role

You'll design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and well-tested software systems. You'll make thoughtful choices about architecture and infrastructure, and monitor your work after it goes live.

You'll partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout product design and rollout, taking ownership and keeping projects moving. You'll also help the team grow by mentoring newer engineers and, especially at senior levels, improving team practices.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, and you will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design, build, and maintain iOS SDK capabilities, native entry points, JavaScript bridges, and reusable APIs for MiniApps.
• Improve SDK reliability, performance, security, observability, and backward compatibility across Grab app releases.
• Drive iOS and Android capability parity by defining clear cross-platform contracts and consistent developer experiences.
• Partner with backend engineers on Horus services, authentication, scopes, transaction capabilities, telemetry, and other platform integrations.
• Build automated tests, release tooling, sample applications, and technical documentation that make partner integrations faster and safer.
• Investigate production issues, strengthen monitoring and failure handling, and contribute to incident response and post-incident improvements.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and partner teams to translate requirements into scalable mobile platform solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Min. 4 years of professional iOS development experience, with Swift and iOS SDK skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Manage end-to-end features that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including in large-scale applications.
• Knowledge of iOS architecture, lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance; experience with SDKs, frameworks, libraries, or UI components.
• Experience with API design, versioning, backward compatibility, XCTest, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Experience diagnosing production issues using logs, metrics, traces, crash analytics, Instruments, remote debugging, and systematic troubleshooting.
• Cross-functional collaboration and English proficiency; experience mentoring engineers or influencing technical direction. UIKit, SwiftUI, mobile security, observability, and developer tooling are advantages.
