Job summary

Grab is seeking a senior iOS engineer to design, build, and operate secure mobile systems for the Grab app. You will define architecture, implement native capabilities, and ensure cross‑platform parity in collaboration with backend teams.

You will mentor engineers, participate in design reviews, and help drive best practices from development to release. This role is on-site in Jakarta with Grab’s CX Engineering team.

Get to Know the Role

You'll design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and well-tested software systems. You'll make thoughtful choices about architecture and infrastructure, and monitor your work after it goes live.

You’ll partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout product design and rollout, taking ownership and keeping projects moving. You’ll also help the team grow by mentoring newer engineers and, especially at senior levels, improving team practices.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, and you will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design, build, and maintain iOS SDK capabilities, native entry points, JavaScript bridges, and reusable APIs.
• Improve SDK reliability, performance, security, observability, and backward compatibility across Grab app releases.
• Drive iOS and Android capability parity by defining clear cross‑platform contracts and consistent developer experiences.
• Partner with backend engineers on Horus services, authentication, scopes, transaction capabilities, telemetry, and other platform integrations.
• Build automated tests, release tooling, sample applications, and technical documentation that make partner integrations faster and safer.
• Investigate production issues, strengthen monitoring and failure handling, and contribute to incident response and post‑incident improvements.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and partner teams to translate requirements into scalable mobile platform solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Min. 4 years of professional iOS development experience, with Swift and iOS SDK skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Manage end‑to‑end features that meet functional and non‑functional requirements, including in large‑scale applications.
• Knowledge of iOS architecture, lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance; experience with SDKs, frameworks, libraries, or UI components.
• Experience with API design, versioning, backward compatibility, XCTest, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Experience diagnosing production issues using logs, metrics, traces, crash analytics, Instruments, remote debugging, and systematic troubleshooting.
• Cross‑functional collaboration and English proficiency; experience mentoring engineers or influencing technical direction. UIKit, SwiftUI, mobile security, observability, and developer tooling are advantages.
