Job summary

Grab is seeking an experienced iOS Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, reliable mobile systems for our Jakarta users. You will contribute to core navigation, content discovery, and seamless engagement across the Grab app, collaborating with product, design, and QA to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Based on-site in Jakarta, you will mentor junior engineers, lead architecture reviews, and improve coding practices, testing, and release processes to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional iOS development with Swift and iOS SDK.
• Experience with API design, versioning, backward compatibility, XCTest, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Strong collaboration and English proficiency; mentoring engineers or influencing technical direction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain iOS SDK capabilities, native entry points, JavaScript bridges, and reusable APIs.
• Improve SDK reliability, performance, security, observability, and backward compatibility across Grab app releases.
• Drive iOS and Android capability parity by defining clear cross-platform contracts and consistent developer experiences.
• Partner with backend engineers on Horus services, authentication, scopes, transaction capabilities, telemetry, and other platform integrations.
• Build automated tests, release tooling, sample applications, and technical documentation that make partner integrations faster and safer.
• Investigate production issues, strengthen monitoring and failure handling, and contribute to incident response and post-incident improvements.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and partner teams to translate requirements into scalable mobile platform solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.

Join the Consumer Experience (CX) Engineering team, where we tackle a diverse range of challenges across the user journey - core navigation and transaction flows to content and service discovery, user engagement, and the mobile app developer experience.

Get to Know the Role

You'll design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and well-tested software systems. You'll make thoughtful choices about architecture and infrastructure, and monitor your work after it goes live.

You'll partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout product design and rollout, taking ownership and keeping projects moving. You'll also help the team grow by mentoring newer engineers and, especially at senior levels, improving team practices.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, and you will be based fully on-site in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design, build, and maintain iOS SDK capabilities, native entry points, JavaScript bridges, and reusable APIs.
• Improve SDK reliability, performance, security, observability, and backward compatibility across Grab app releases.
• Drive iOS and Android capability parity by defining clear cross-platform contracts and consistent developer experiences.
• Partner with backend engineers on Horus services, authentication, scopes, transaction capabilities, telemetry, and other platform integrations.
• Build automated tests, release tooling, sample applications, and technical documentation that make partner integrations faster and safer.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Min. 4 years of professional iOS development experience, with Swift and iOS SDK skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Manage end-to-end features that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including in large-scale applications.
• Knowledge of iOS architecture, lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance; experience with SDKs, frameworks, libraries, or UI components.
• Experience with API design, versioning, backward compatibility, XCTest, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, and release management.
• Experience diagnosing production issues using logs, metrics, traces, crash analytics, Instruments, remote debugging, and systematic troubleshooting.
• Cross-functional collaboration and English proficiency; experience mentoring engineers or influencing technical direction. UIKit, SwiftUI, mobile security, observability, and developer tooling are advantages.
