Job summary

Mekari, Indonesia's leading SaaS company, seeks a seasoned Backend Engineer to build server-side logic, connect with external services, and develop plugins for our Ruby and Go framework. You will shape system architecture, write tests, and help scale data processing while collaborating with a global engineering team where English is required.

You will work on API services, microservices, and caching strategies, with emphasis on problem solving, learning, and delivering robust software.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience in complex systems.
• Proficiency in Golang; Ruby on Rails experience is a plus, willingness to learn Rails.
• Strong knowledge of API design, microservices, and caching solutions.
• Experience with TDD and versioning tools.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
• Humble, hungry engineer; strong problem-solving and collaboration; English communication required.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Responsible for writing server-side web application logic.
• Develop back-end components, connect the application with the other (often third-party) web services, and support the front-end developers by integrating their work with the application.
• Also required to develop and integrate plugins for frameworks (Mekari using Ruby & Go as its framework).
• Create scale for software product and data processing.
• Contribute to system architecture and design.
• Write clear, concise source-code, unit, and integration tests.
• Be able to think beyond code to create a good user experience.
• The Developer will work closely with the Lead Engineer, Technical Program Manager, and QA Engineer also works with our remote overseas engineering team (English is required).
• Build product features and/or API services.
• Solve technical problems.
• Continuously learning and improving.
• A role model for the junior software engineer team.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• AI-Assisted Development: Working proficiency with AI-assisted development (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
• Experienced developer with a proven track record in problem-solving.
• At least 6 years of working experience solving a complex problem through technology.
• Required skill(s): Golang (preferably) & Ruby on Rails, but open to other stack as long as having interest in learning Ruby on Rails.
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming and MVC.
• Experience in TDD & versioning tool.
• Good knowledge of API, microservices, and caching solutions.
