About Sawana
Sawana is a fast-growing villa development and construction-management company based in Bali. Our team of 15 currently oversees more than 40 villas in development, and we expect to double that — over 100 villas — within the next six months. We build rigorous, independent systems to track and deliver our projects, and we work to the highest standards of quality and coordination.
The Role
We're looking for a Site Engineer to own the follow-up of our construction projects across the Bukit area. You'll move from site to site, checking that work matches the architecture drawings and the schedule, giving clear instructions to worker teams and their supervisors, and driving quality and progress until every detail is properly executed. You are our eyes on the ground and the person who keeps construction on track, on spec, and on time.
This role rewards people with stamina and convincing power — the ability to follow up on the smallest details relentlessly until they're done right, and to get teams aligned and moving. You'll coordinate closely with our in-house drafting team, interior design team, contractors, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Site follow-up — visit projects daily across the Bukit area to verify quality and progress against architecture drawings and the construction timeline.
- Team instruction & coordination — talk directly with workers and team supervisors to give clear instructions, organize planning, and define construction methodology.
- Progress verification — track real physical progress objectively against the schedule; verify that reported advancement matches what is actually built on site.
- Quality control — inspect workmanship against drawings and specifications; run snagging/punch lists and follow up on every item until properly executed.
- Reporting — create and maintain clear quality, progress and site reports for the team and leadership, with photo documentation.
- Methodology & planning — help define and improve construction methods, sequencing and short-term planning on each site.
- Stakeholder coordination — keep information flowing between site teams, the drafting and interior design teams, contractors, suppliers and leadership; resolve issues fast.
- Drawing feedback loop — flag doubts, errors or discrepancies found on site and feed them back to the drafting team so revisions happen quickly.
- Materials & quantities — check deliveries and executed quantities against specifications and BOQ.
- Weekly team meeting — attend and contribute to the weekly team meeting.
What We're Looking For
- 5–7 years' experience as a site/project engineer, with strong experience building villa complexes in Bali.
- Able to read architecture drawings and compare them accurately against real on-site execution.
- Expert eye for detail — spots what others miss and won't let it slide.
- Stamina and convincing power — follows up on small details relentlessly and gets teams to execute.
- Strong problem-solving: finds practical solutions on site and takes initiative.
- Excellent communication to coordinate between workers, supervisors, designers, contractors and leadership.
- Able to plan, sequence and define construction methodology.
- Well-organized, reliable, and autonomous — comfortable running multiple sites with minimal supervision.
- Available Monday–Friday and reachable for site needs.
- Working English is a plus for communication with international team members.
Requirements to Provide (Candidate)
- Own means of transport — motorbike or car to move between sites across the Bukit area. A transport allowance is included in the overall package as compensation for this.
- Own IT equipment — laptop and smartphone for reports and on-site drawing review.
Why Join Sawana
- A pipeline of 100+ villas across the Bukit: varied, high-volume, ambitious projects.
- Real ownership of construction quality and progress on the ground.
- A collaborative, fast-paced environment where initiative is valued.
- Base salary plus a performance bonus that rewards quality and progress.
