Job summary

PT. REA KALTIM PLANTATIONS in East Kalimantan seeks a Senior Mechanic to conduct inspections and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment.

You will diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues across engine, hydraulic, electrical, transmission and powertrain systems, ensuring machines stay safe, reliable and productive in challenging field conditions. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanic, preferably in the heavy equipment industry.
• SMK or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field.
• Proven maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul experience on heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of engine, hydraulic, transmission, electrical and powertrain systems.
• Ability to lead, supervise and provide technical direction to mechanics.
• Good understanding of SOPs, preventive maintenance programs, and K3 (safety) standards.

Job description

The Senior Mechanic is responsible for conducting inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of heavy equipment. The role involves diagnosing and resolving issues related to engine, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and powertrain systems to ensure all equipment is maintained in safe, reliable, and optimal operating condition.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment.
• Diagnose, analyze, and resolve mechanical and technical issues involving engine, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and powertrain systems.
• Perform equipment repairs and overhauls in accordance with established technical standards and procedures.
• Ensure heavy equipment is maintained in safe, reliable, and operational condition.
• Supervise, coordinate, and provide technical guidance to mechanics in carrying out maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), scheduled maintenance plans, and K3 (Occupational Health and Safety) standards.
• Conduct systematic diagnostic and troubleshooting processes to identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports covering inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul activities.

Qualification

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanic, preferably in the heavy equipment industry.
• Minimum Vocational High School (SMK) or Diploma (D3) in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of engine, hydraulic, transmission, electrical and powertrain systems.
• Strong ability to perform systematic diagnostics, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Ability to lead, supervise and provide technical direction to mechanics or maintenance teams.
• Good understanding of SOPs, preventive maintenance programs, and occupational health and safety (K3) standards.k.

The REA group is principally engaged in the cultivation of oil palms at East Kalimantan, and in the production and sale of crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO). The group’s principal operating subsidiary, PT REA Kaltim Plantations (REA Kaltim), manages oil palm plantations in Belayan Ulu, a remote area on either side of the Belayan River, a tributary of the Mahakam River in East Kalimantan. Some 18,000 hectares (over 26% of REA’s titled land bank) are designated as conservation reserves. The group has two methane capture facilities that generate electricity for the majority of its operations and employee housing, as well as supplying power to the villages.
