Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock is seeking a Health Pricing Officer to provide actuarial pricing support across health insurance products, from development to profitability analysis and governance, collaborating with stakeholders to balance value, competitiveness and portfolio growth.

The role requires senior actuarial pricing experience, fellowship with a recognized actuarial body, and strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. Hybrid work arrangement and international scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related discipline.
• Fellow from internationally recognized actuarial organization.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in an actuarial pricing function (with significant experience in health pricing).
• Ability to grasp complex subject matter and develop innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing and coordinating Health Pricing activities, including product development, product management, portfolio management, and repricing initiatives from an actuarial perspective.
• Participating in developing health product strategies and engaging the Product Steering Committee to ensure timely development, implementation and launch.
• Developing and maintaining premium rates and benefit structures for Health products in consultation with Product Proposition and Development and Distribution Channels.
• Ensuring financial assumptions used in pricing align with Corporate guidelines and balance profitability, competitiveness, customer value, and distribution needs.
• Collaborate with Experience Study and Health Analytics to analyze portfolio performance and translate insights into pricing and portfolio management recommendations.
• Coordinate with Life Pricing Officer per Corporate Pricing Standards and communicate pricing risks to management and risk bodies.
• Be accountable for pricing integrity of liabilities and convey risk/return robustly.
• Ensure Health product pricing complies with Company policies and Pricing Standards.
• Lead the creative process of developing new Health products to support growth across Distribution Channels.
• Review and enhance portfolio to maintain competitiveness and drive incremental sales.
• Provide actuarial support to regional reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and senior management recommendations.
• Strengthen data management robustness and enable better decision making and portfolio oversight.
• Coordinate with Pricing Strategy and Finance to deliver annual Health business plans and budget alignment.
• Highlight opportunities and risks to help management achieve targets in the business plan.
