Job summary

PaxOcean in Batam is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering activities, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and HSE requirements. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate maintenance, inspection, testing, and commissioning, and review designs and documentation.

You will collaborate with project teams, inspectors, and contractors to ensure quality and safe execution of mechanical works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or Engineering Management is an advantage.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Strong CAD and simulation tool proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS).
• Solid understanding of HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, and structural mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.
• Ensure all mechanical works comply with international codes, standards, and class specifications.
• Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical systems.

Job Summary

The role provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, coordinates mechanical maintenance, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities, and reviews mechanical designs and documentation. The position also collaborates with project teams, classification societies, inspectors, and contractors to ensure the quality, safety, and successful execution of mechanical works.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities :

• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
• Ensure all mechanical works comply with international construction codes, engineering standards, and class specifications.
• Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical systems and equipment.
• Actively participate in site inspections, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Ensure that daily mechanical operations meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, tools, and spare parts for mechanical works.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications prepared by junior engineers or consultants.
• Lead, coordinate, and execute mechanical engineering tasks in line with project and department objectives.
• Collaborate with classification societies, third-party inspectors, and technical teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Adhere to and enforce Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures established by the organization.
• Maintain accurate documentation, technical reports, and records as per company policy and project requirements.
• Supervise the inspection and certification process for mechanical installations, including pressure vessels, piping, and rotating equipment.

Key Requirements

Preferred Experience :

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in [e.g., oil & gas, manufacturing, construction, etc.].
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and simulation tools (ANSYS, etc.).
• Solid understanding of HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, and structural mechanics.

Education And Key Certifications Necessary

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or Engineering Management is an advantage.
• Additional technical training in maintenance, reliability, manufacturing, or project engineering is preferred.
