Job summary

LMN VFX in Jakarta seeks a skilled Environment Matte Painter to define mood and artistic direction for cinematic scenes. You will develop LookDev, color scripts, and matte paintings from concept to final shot asset.

You will blend 2D photo-bashing, 3D assets (Blender, Maya, Unreal) and painting to build high-detail environments, then prep for projection with correct layer separation for the Compositing team.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of composition, color theory, light falloff, and spatial depth.
• Experience with 2D photo-bashing, digital painting and 3D workflows for environment creation.
• Familiarity with layering for projection and compositing pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop environment LookDev, color scripts and matte paintings from concept to final shot asset.
• Combine 2D and 3D techniques to build high-detail environments across cinematic scenes.
• Prepare matte paintings for projection with proper layer separation for the Compositing team.
• Collaborate with Art Director and VFX Supervisor to translate rough ideas into polished backdrops.
• Maintain consistency across multiple environment styles (natural, urban, stylized).
• Provide organized portfolio or reel showcasing mood and lighting variations.
