Job summary

LMN VFX is seeking an entry-level, on-site Digital Matte Painter in Jakarta for probation. You will create photorealistic matte paintings and 2.5D/3D extensions for film projects, and you will extend live-action backgrounds to match lighting and camera moves.

You will work closely with the DMP, Compositing, and Lighting teams to deliver assets that meet tight deadlines, ensuring color space accuracy and shot-to-shot continuity.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Photoshop, Nuke, and 3D packages (Blender/Maya).
• Excellent organization for smooth hand-offs to Compositing.
• Ability to adapt to client feedback under tight production constraints.

Responsibilities

Jakarta Barat Probation · On Site Entry Level

• Create high-quality, photorealistic digital matte paintings and 2.5D/3D environment extensions for film and animation projects.
• Extend, clean up, and modify live-action background plates to seamlessly match set photography, lighting, and camera movement.
• Collaborate closely with the Lead DMP, Compositing, and Lighting teams to deliver production-ready assets and utility passes (mattes, depth, lighting passes).
• Maintain visual continuity, correct color space management (e.g., ACES), and shot-to-shot consistency while meeting tight deadlines.
• Prepare matte paintings for projection, splitting layers correctly (foreground, midground, background) for the Compositing team.

Requirements

• Strong artistic foundation with an advanced understanding of cinematic lighting, perspective, scale, atmosphere, and photorealism.
• Proven proficiency in Photoshop, alongside strong working knowledge of Nuke (for projection setups) and Blender/Maya (for 3D base geometry and layout).
• Highly organized file management (clean PSD structures) for smooth hand-offs to the Compositing department.
• Ability to adapt quickly to client feedback and maintain high visual quality under production constraints.
• Selection of high-quality environment matte paintings and LookDev concepts showing mood and lighting variations.
• Process breakdowns illustrating the pipeline from 3D block-out / rough sketch to photo-bashing and final polish.
• Clear visual proof of layer separation and projection readiness.
• Link to an organized online portfolio or demo reel (ArtStation, Vimeo, personal website).
