Grab in Jakarta is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Wallet Cash-In/Cash-out Experience payments team on-site. You will help drive architectural advancements, design backend components, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business owners to move fast and deliver reliable payment services.

The role requires at least 6 years in backend engineering, strong Go or Java skills, and experience with microservices, GRPC, REST, Kafka, SQS, and observability tools like Datadog.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go or Java and core languages.
• Experience with RDBMS and unit testing (JUnit/Go Testify).
• Strong grip on idempotency, CAP theorem, distributed systems.
• Observability tooling experience (Datadog).
• Experience with microservices, gRPC, REST, Kafka, SQS in payment domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural advancements within payments backend.
• Design backend components for new features.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging and tuning.
• Propose and implement new features and architectures.
• Collaborate with business owners and product managers on design.
• Respond to incidents and maintain service uptime on call.
