Job summary

Ajaib Group is seeking a Sr. Backend Engineer II for the Investment team to own backend services behind stock trading, from design to production. You will handle order flow, market data, portfolio and settlement processes, mentoring engineers and delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure.

You’ll design scalable services, ensure correctness, and collaborate with Product, Operations and Compliance to translate requirements into robust solutions. Hybrid/remote setup supports global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with high traffic.
• Proficient in Java or Go; strong backend language skills.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, REST/gRPC, event-driven design.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; Redis and Kafka.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS); containers and CI/CD.
• Ownership mindset and clear communication; regulated, high-traffic domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and run scalable backend services and APIs for trading, market data and portfolio features.
• Own larger end-to-end features including monitoring and on-call follow-up.
• Ensure correctness with accurate money handling, idempotent requests, safe retries and audit trails.
• Keep services fast and stable at market open and during peak volume.
• Integrate with exchange, clearing, bank and external systems; ensure resilience.
• Lead design reviews and perform code reviews.
• Investigate production incidents and ship lasting fixes.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and share knowledge within the team.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations and Compliance to turn requirements into reliable solutions.
