Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Building Management Supervisor to oversee maintenance and custodial operations across a group of schools in HRCE. The role emphasizes safety systems, staff supervision, and coordination with the central maintenance team to support public school programming.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience in operation and/or maintenance of facilities.
• Minimum three years experience supervising twenty-five plus employees in a maintenance or custodial environment.
• Technical certificate in building operations/maintenance from a recognized Community College, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Staff supervision of custodial and maintenance tasks.
• Perform inspections and plan fire drills and other emergency drills.
• Coordinate with HRCE maintenance personnel and external service providers.
• Participate in facility meetings and ensure regulatory sign-off.
• Develop best work practices and ensure quality assurance standards are applied.
