We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the end-to-end process of the Edufarmers Project workstream, from design concept through on-the-ground implementation.
Through this role, you will help create projects with real potential to change Indonesia's food sector and deliver measurable impact to farmers and beneficiaries.
As Project Manager, you will build and lead a team to design, manage, and implement projects with clients across corporates, foundations, governments, and multilateral organizations — enhancing impact for smallholder farmers and other beneficiaries. You will own the full lifecycle: from requirements gathering and concept design through team-building, delivery, budget management, and donor reporting.
1.Design & Requirement
- Independently gather project requirements from internal and external stakeholders (farmers, partners, experts, government bodies, donors, etc.).
- Perform quantitative and/or qualitative research and analysis to understand the problem in depth.
- Synthesize findings into an overall delivery concept that satisfies project requirements.
- Create the concept document and present it to management and prospective clients/donors.
2.Resourcing & Team
- Map out resources needed to deliver the project and coordinate with other functions or external stakeholders to secure them.
- Hire and build an operational team to execute the project.
- Develop operational materials and evaluation/M&E instruments for delivery and evaluation, working together with Impact Team.
3.Delivery & Accountability
- Manage the project to ensure deliverables are met on time and targets are achieved.
- Own the project budget: track spend against plan, flag variances, and manage resource trade-offs during implementation.
- Manage donor and partner relationships through the full project lifecycle, not just at the design/pitch stage, including progress reporting and compliance with grant/contract terms.
- Coordinate with other Edufarmers workstreams (e.g. Bertani, ZeroStunting) where projects draw on shared field infrastructure or capabilities.
- Identify and escalation delivery risks early, with mitigation options rather than just status updates.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and implementing initiatives, including at least 2 years directly managing a team.
- Track record of successfully leading a project from design through implementation and achieving target outcomes.
- Experience managing budgets for donor-funded or client-funded projects (planning, tracking, variance management).
- Background in agriculture, nutrition, rural development, or a related social-impact sector preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, able to build a cohesive solution out of scattered, incomplete information.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt to sudden changes in scope or requirements.
- Enjoys solving hard problems collaboratively with a team.
- Able to work independently and resourcefully with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and spoken communication and presentation skills (English and Indonesian).
- Willing and able to travel to program sites as needed.
- Proficient in data analysis using MS Excel.
- Able to build compelling presentations using MS PowerPoint.
