Job summary

Forest Carbon seeks a Project Manager to lead the delivery of our carbon project portfolio from planning through implementation. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and compliant with PDDs and certification requirements.

You will bridge HQ and Field teams, translating HQ strategies into field execution, and lead Field Teams to maintain high performance and collaboration across sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in forestry/conservation.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of assigned carbon projects, meeting milestones, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Lead and develop Senior Field Manager and Field Managers with clear priorities and accountability.
  • Coordinate activities between HQ functions and Field teams for strategic alignment.
  • Monitor progress with milestone tracking, budgeting, and governance; ensure audit-ready documentation.
  • Foster safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement across field operations.

Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of carbon project portfolio from planning through implementation. The role is accountable for ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved Project Design Documents (PDD), certification requirements, and company objectives.

The Project Manager serves as the primary bridge between HQ and Field teams, ensuring strategies, standards, and priorities established by HQ are effectively translated into field execution. The role also leads the Field Team to ensure strong operational performance, execution discipline, and cross-functional collaboration across all project sites.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Execution
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of assigned carbon projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, timelines, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Develop project execution plans and coordinate implementation across HQ and Field teams.
  • Monitor project performance, proactively identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure project implementation aligns with approved Project Design Documents (PDD), certification requirements, and company standards.
Field Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Senior Field Manager and Field Managers, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure field teams have the resources, information, and cross-functional support required to successfully execute project activities.
  • Conduct regular coaching, performance discussions, and operational reviews with field leadership.
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, ownership, execution discipline, and continuous improvement across field teams.
  • Support workforce planning and resource allocation together with HR and the COO.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Serve as the primary bridge between HQ functions and Field teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective project execution.
  • Coordinate activities across Science & Impact, Community, Finance, HR, Legal, and other supporting functions.
  • Resolve cross-functional dependencies and operational issues affecting project delivery.
  • Escalate strategic risks, resource constraints, and critical project issues to the COO in a timely manner.
Project Governance & Performance Management
  • Monitor project progress through milestone tracking, reporting, and regular project reviews.
  • Ensure project documentation, reporting, and decision logs remain accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Track project budgets, resource utilization, and key performance indicators.
  • Drive accountability for project deliverables across all stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal teams, local partners, consultants, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead project coordination meetings and ensure decisions, responsibilities, and follow-up actions are clearly communicated.
  • Ensure transparent communication between HQ and Field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the Program Management function in project discussions and coordination forums.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, operational efficiency, and delivery quality.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices across project portfolios.
  • Support the continuous improvement of project governance, reporting systems, and execution standards.
Success Indicators
  • Timely achievement of project milestones in accordance with approved project plans.
  • High-quality project deliverables that comply with Project Design Documents (PDD), certification requirements, and company standards.
  • Effective management of project budgets, resources, and operational activities.
  • Timely identification, escalation, and resolution of project risks and implementation issues.
  • Effective coordination and collaboration between HQ and Field teams.
  • Strong performance and execution discipline across the assigned Field teams.

  • Continuous improvement of project management processes and operational effectiveness.
Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Engineering, Project Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex projects, preferably within forestry, conservation, environmental, infrastructure, or field-based operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating field operations.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders in dynamic environments.
  • Involvement or having an understanding of Nature-based Solutions is an added advantage.
