Job summary

ABB in Jakarta is seeking a DCS engineering professional to act as design authority for a disciplined area, handling small to mid-sized projects with cost efficiency. You will apply design thinking concepts, support testing and commissioning, and prepare project proposals while contributing to ABB's Automation Process Industries portfolio.

You should have a 5+ year background in DCS project engineering, strong PLC/DCS knowledge, and English communication skills to work with international

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 5+ years in DCS project engineering, application programming, and automation projects/services.
• Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC control systems, instrumentation, I/O hardware, variable speed drives, and controller/PLC integration.
• Experience with Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP, and OPC.
• Understanding of automation project/service requirements, preferably in pulp, paper & fiber industries.
• Familiarity with ABB 800xA, ABB Control Builder, and ABB Pulp & Paper Library is advantageous.
• Proficient in Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10, and MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, VMware, Hyper-V, or Red Hat Linux is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills for project and customer-facing environments.

Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

This role is contributing to the DCS Engineering function in Automation Process Industries in South East Asia.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
• Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Assisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects.
• Utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in DCS project engineering, application programming, and automation projects/services.
• Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC control systems, instrumentation, I/O hardware, variable speed drives, and controller/PLC integration.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP, and OPC.
• Good understanding of automation project and service execution requirements, preferably within the Pulp, Paper & Fiber industry.
• Familiarity with ABB 800xA, ABB Control Builder, and ABB Pulp & Paper Library is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, VMware, Hyper-V, or Red Hat Linux is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to work effectively in project and customer-facing environments.
