Job summary

Inter IKEA Group is seeking a Production Engineer to lead the engineering and quality agenda with suppliers, ensuring the production processes are developed and kept in line with IKEA requirements. You will be the main liaison with suppliers and drive improvements across the production landscape.

You will collaborate with Southeast Asian supplier bases to develop quality systems, perform root-cause analyses, and secure robust processes, aiming for high customer satisfaction and adherence to

Qualifications

  • Experience in production environment and/or process development.
  • Experience in relevant production technologies, materials and home furnishing products is a plus.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical background.
  • Understanding of customers' needs and expectations.
  • Good communication skills; will and ability to work in team.
  • Good balance between overall view and details.
  • Very good computer software skills (MS Office applications).
  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge on production floor would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Quality Assurance including process control for key processes in the production.
  • Responsible for Supplier development for quality and manufacturing with SDP projects to secure suppliers' production can achieve quality, capacity, throughput and cost expectation.
  • Lead the running range towards the suppliers and secure the supply chain is robust with an effective quality management system and full IKEA compliance.
  • Continuously improve the supplier's production processes and share best practices/knowledge.
  • Lead product deviation process with root-cause analysis and CAPA for quality alarms and claims.
  • Lead industrialization of minor new product development and contribute to other developments including risk assessment.
  • Secure final inspection and feedback to suppliers regarding quality performance.
  • Lead production risk assessments at suppliers.
  • Evaluate potential new supplier’s production facilities and quality systems.
  • Act as an IKEA ambassador in all situations.

  • Responsible for Supplier development for quality and manufacturing with a long term view to identify and implement actions of SDP projects to secure suppliers production can achieve quality, capacity, throughput and cost expectation; starting with GO/NOGO requirements in place all times
  • Lead the running range towards the suppliers and secure the supply chain is robust with an effective quality management system, right quality and full compliance to IKEA requirements at all time
  • Responsible for continuously improve the supplier's production processes (reduction in scrap rate, defects, efficiency gains etc.) and share best practices/knowledge by gathering and conveying product and production experiences to create pre-conditions for the suppliers to take full responsibility for their performance
  • Lead product deviation process with sense of urgency towards the causing part and capture learning from previous product deviations. Secure root-cause analysis, stock correction and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for received Quality Alarms and claims
  • Lead industrialization of minor new product development and contribute with competence to other news developments incl product/production risk assessment
  • Secure final inspection and regular follow up and feedback to the suppliers regarding quality performance to improve Customer Experienced Product Quality
  • Lead production risk assessments at suppliers
  • Evaluate potential new supplier’s production facilities and quality systems
  • In all situations act as an IKEA ambassador

As a Production Engineer you will lead the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve the customer satisfaction. Furthermore, you will be the main contact towards the suppliers. As part of the business team you will work together with the supplier to develop and secure the production process, handling of quality deviations and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements.
