Job summary

Inchcape Indonesia is seeking an Engineering Assistant Manager to drive continuous improvement across the assembly line. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize layout, cycle time, and quality, applying Lean manufacturing and automation knowledge to meet daily targets.

The role emphasizes development of SOPs, standardization, and local content localization initiatives, with a strong focus on automotive industry standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in one of the relevant engineering fields.
• Preferred Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and safety or IATF 16949 familiarity.
• Experience with automotive manufacturing processes and quality control tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize assembly line layouts applying Lean principles.
• Analyze cycle times and target daily production goals.
• Ensure quality at each assembly stage to achieve zero defects.
• Monitor robots, conveyors, and fastening tools; address line stoppages.
• Develop SOPs for operators to maintain consistency and safety.
• Lead localization projects to meet local content and cost targets.

Our Assembly team is seeking a Engineering Assistant Manager to join our team in Indonesia. In this position you will work closely other cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, solve process challenges, and deliver operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Assembly Line Design: Configuring the layout of machines, robots, and worker stations to ensure an efficient car assembly flow (applying Lean Manufacturing principles).
• Cycle Time Optimization: Analyzing and eliminating wasted time at each assembly station to meet daily production targets (Takt Time).
• Product Quality Control: Ensuring every assembly stage - such as body weld strength or the precision of glass installation; meets quality standards and achieves a "Zero Defect" outcome.
• Automation and Maintenance: Monitoring the performance of assembly robots, conveyor systems, and automatic fastening tools (nutrunners), and addressing technical issues during production line stoppages (Line Stop).
• Work Standardization: Developing clear written guidelines (Standard Operating Procedures/SOPs) for factory operators to maintain consistency and workplace safety.
• Component Localization: Leading localization projects (manufacturing components in the country where the factory is located) to reduce logistics costs and comply with local content regulations.

About You

• Education: Bachelor's degree (S1) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Additional Certifications (Optional but preferred): Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification or occupational safety certification (such as General K3 in Indonesia).
• Certifications in automotive quality management systems (such as IATF 16949) or project management certifications.
• Understanding of Measuring Instruments: Mastery of the use of precision measuring instruments and quality control tools (QC Tools).
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
• Additional language skills; such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese; are a significant advantage at many automotive companies.
