Job summary

Volex is seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer to lead the conception and finalization of connector and power component solutions for consumer electronics. You will engage with customers, oversee design discussions, coordinate samples, and drive project milestones from concept through production.

The role requires hands-on design using 3D software, strong problem-solving abilities, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet demanding performance and timing targets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in product development in engineering/high-tech environments.
• Experience in design and development for cable or connectors is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electronic engineering.
• Knowledge of FMEA and Design of Experiment (DOE).

You will help to create the next generation of interconnect solutions used by our customers in consumer electronics and domestic appliance applications. You will conceive, design, and bring into production products that will re-define the connector industry.

Education & Certifications

Job Specific Technical Requirements

• Must be able to use 3D design software such as UG, Solid works, Pro-E or AutoCAD

Industry experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product development in an engineering/electronics/high-tech environment. Experience of design and development for cable or connectors would be an advantage.

Job Specific Personal Requirements

• Ability in mechanical design of plastics components and contacts/terminals design for a high-speed stamping die.
• Good knowledge in the application of various engineering plastics and the processing skills of plastics injection moulding machines to achieve high cosmetic requirements.
• Strong trouble shooting skills and an analytical mind.
• Ability to lead the team members to accomplish the project to meet customer’s requirements within time frame.
• Good team player

Languages

• Fluency in English is essential.
