Job summary

NS BlueScope is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical capital projects across ASEAN. Based in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, you will drive strategic upgrades in heavy metal processing equipment and establish engineering standards while developing regional talent and ensuring safety across projects.

You will guide design, fabrication, commissioning and optimization of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with global standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of professional experience.
• Proven experience in mechanical equipment design and manufacturing.
• Understanding of machine design concepts, hydraulics systems, bearings, materials, gear boxes and transmission systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical design standards and CAD/FEA tools (AutoCAD, 3D designs).
• Strong communication, presentation skills and ability to work across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Governance of mechanical engineering standards across ASEAN projects.
• Contribute to design, project engineering management and commissioning from a mechanical perspective.
• Develop and implement mechanical equipment strategy and standardization across ASEAN to improve scalability.
• Ensure OEM equipment and engineering quality meet standards and support local regulatory compliance.
• Resource management including capability uplift in country.
• End-to-end talent management of Mechanical Engineering skill pool.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer, based in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, will lead the development and implementation of mechanical capital and engineering initiatives across ASEAN. They will drive the creation of strategic business cases to ensure equipment technology is fit for purpose and meets market requirements, while establishing and maintaining Mechanical Engineering standards across projects. Additionally, they will continuously review the capital portfolio and lead the development of the mechanical engineering talent pipeline in the region.

What You Will Do

• Project management and delivery support within mechanical engineering
• Managing the governance of mechanical engineering standards across ASEAN projects
• Contribute to design process, project engineering management and commissioning process from mechanical perspective.
• Mechanical equipment strategy and standardization across the ASEAN Region to improve scalability and optimization of resources.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+years professional experience.
• Proven Experience in Mechanical Equipment Design and Manufacturing with a capability to design, analyse and implement strategic upgrades for heavy Metal industry.
• Proven Experience in understanding of implementation of mechanical design concept in Machine Design, Hydraulics system, Bearing applications and selection, Material selection and application, Gear Box and Transmission systems, etc..
• Knowledge on Mechanical Design standards, Design software’s such as AutoCAD, 3D designs, FEA, etc.. and Awareness on international standards.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills on technical and non-technical topics, to audiences across all levels of the organization.
• Effective facilitator and coach.
• Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications And Experience

• Desirable Experience in Mechanical equipment design & manufacturing for Cold Rolling Mills, Strip Processing Line / Color Paint Line / Furnaces.
• Proven Experience on Capital projects Front end loading and project execution phases.
• Proven Experience on Erection and commissioning of Heavy mechanical equipment’s.
• Demonstrated effective change leadership across a global, multicultural functional organization.
