The PYP Homeroom Teacher at Sekolah Victory Plus (SVP) plays a central role in ensuring that the school's Core Values and the IB philosophy are embedded into daily practice. By fostering meaningful relationships with students, the homeroom teacher creates a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every learner feels valued and empowered to take risks, embrace challenges, and achieve their potential. The teacher is also instrumental in promoting the IB Learner Profile attributes, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, and the SVP Champion Mindset, which together underpin the holistic development of internationally-minded, reflective, and active learners.

Key responsibilities

Build strong relationships with students to profoundly impact their learning and foster a sense of belonging

Actively encourage inquiry-driven, transdisciplinary learning experiences that integrate ATL skills and inspire curiosity

Use a variety of teaching strategies to address diverse learning needs, abilities, and cultural backgrounds

Design and implement varied and authentic assessments that reflect student progress, using tools such as SeeSaw to document and communicate learning effectively

Engage students in decision-making processes and goal setting to foster ownership of their learning and behavior

Create a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom climate that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and emotional involvement in learning

Collaborate with colleagues and the PYP Coordinator in planning, reflection, and the delivery of the curriculum, ensuring alignment with PYP principles and the school's strategic goals

Develop and maintain weekly and long-term plans that align with the PYP scope and sequence, transdisciplinary themes, and school priorities

Ensure clarity in classroom routines, expectations, and behavioral plans to enable students to take greater responsibility for their learning

Incorporate opportunities for reflection and metacognition into the learning process, guiding students to understand their personal learning attributes

About you

A minimum of Bachelor's degree from a related field.

Fluent in English, with the ability to deliver lessons and communicate effectively in English.

Stay updated on current research and developments in PYP pedagogy and best practices in teaching

Share expertise and innovative strategies with colleagues through in-school training, collaborative planning, and professional learning communities

Participate in the teacher evaluation process, including classroom observations and feedback sessions, to continually improve teaching practices

Create a stimulating and organized physical learning environment, incorporating displays and resources that reflect and celebrate student learning

Use technology effectively to enhance learning and engage students in meaningful, purposeful activities

Foster care and respect for all classroom resources and materials

Promote the IB Learner Profile attributes and the SVP Champion Mindset through interactions with students and the school community

Respond to students' physical, mental, and emotional needs with sensitivity and professionalism

Communicate regularly and effectively with parents through various channels, including conferences, notebooks, and emails

Actively participate in decision-making processes, school improvement initiatives, and collaborative planning meetings
