Somerdive in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, invites applications for a diving instructor to join our international team with a start in March 2027. We welcome full-time staff or two part-time instructors to support our growing operations.

Job description

Somerdive is based in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, the gateway to Komodo National Park.

In 2027, we will operate two traditional wooden phinisi boats, each accommodating 25 guests, plus a speedboat with capacity for 14 guests.

We have a strong Chinese market and are looking to expand significantly into Western markets in 2027.

We are seeking a full-time instructor, or potentially two part-time instructors, to complete our international team.

STARTING MARCH 2027

We are ideally looking for someone to start in March 2027, with a minimum commitment of one year.

ABOUT OUR DIVING

• Fun diving in the Central, North and South areas of Komodo National Park


• Sidemount diving and sidemount courses


• Sidemount technical diving and technical courses up to Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50


• CCR and open-circuit technical diving guidance


• Discover Scuba Diving experiences, refreshers and recreational courses

Our team combines Indonesian Divemasters and support staff with international Instructors.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• A strong team player who enjoys working with colleagues


• A fun, friendly and approachable personality, comfortable interacting with both staff and guests


• Good communication skills


• The ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations


• A mature and responsible attitude towards work


• Enjoyment of a varied role involving courses, Discover Scuba Diving experiences and guiding

VERY DESIRABLE

• Fluent English plus at least one other major language


• German is particularly valued, although French, Italian, Spanish and Korean are also welcome


• Previous experience working as a Dive Instructor or Divemaster


• Experience working in strong and unpredictable currents


• A good social media presence or marketing skills

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience diving in Komodo National Park


• Specialties such as Drift, Deep, Nitrox or Sidemount


• Underwater photography and videography skills

OPPORTUNITY TO GROW

WHAT WE OFFER

• A six-day working week for full-time positions, or three days for part-time positions


• A fully paid one-year KITAS work visa for full-time staff; 50% of the visa cost covered for part-time staff

EARNING POTENTIAL

Based on guiding every day, you could expect to earn around IDR 18 million per month.

With refreshers and Discover Scuba Diving experiences, earnings can reach IDR 25 million or more during the high season.
