Job summary

Koninklijke Vopak N.V. is seeking an Operations Technician to prepare and line up equipment, assist berthing and unberthing of vessels, and manage product movements between tanks and vessels.

The role requires basic to intermediate technical expertise, a proactive safety mindset, and strong documentation discipline. You will monitor all operating equipment for readiness, perform preventive maintenance with the Maintenance Technician, and ensure proper records for oil movements and tank

Qualifications

• Minimum High Vocational in Technical with GPA 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.
• Preferably 2+ years in relevant industry; fresh graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and line up equipment/system; assist berthing/unberthing of vessels and movements of products to/from vessels and between tanks.
• Monitor operation machines and equipment for proper operation and readiness.
• Maintain records of oil movements and tank inventories; assist planning for replenishment of utilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance and assist Maintenance Technician as needed.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions; liaise with surveyors for gauging and sampling.
• Train Trainee Technician in terminal operations; uphold safety and QoL reporting.

What do we expect from you as an Operation Technician?

• Minimum High Vocational in Technical, preferably from polytechnics with GPA minimum 2.75 in scale of 4.00.
• Preferably has minimal 2 years experience in relevant industry, fresh graduate is welcome to apply.
• Able to communicate in English.

• Has to prepare and line up equipment/system and attend to berthing/unberthing of vessels, movements of products to and from vessels and between tanks and other operational activities including proper documentation.
• Monitor all operation machines and equipment are operated and maintained in line with company operating standards and ready to use at any time.
• Check the products waste in all aspects, notify the concerned persons and find the way to protect it.
• Practices good housekeeping and safety at work.
• Keeps proper records of all oil movements and tank inventory; alerting the planner for the replenishment of utility fuel and water.
• Carries out preventive maintenance and assists Maintenance Technician as and when necessary in repair work.
• Identifying and reporting any equipment malfunctions.
• Liaises with surveyors or owners’ representatives to carry out gauging, sampling and temperature reading consistent with approved procedures.
• Records all pumping start/stop times and delays for vessels at jetties.
• Guides & trains Trainee Technician in terminal operations.
• High degree of safety, health, environment and quality awareness.
• Have safety talks in the field during SOR’s; directly take corrective actions if needed; make a clear report in QoL.
• Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents and accident immediately to Team Leader and SHEQ Manager and create a clear QoL report with detailed description and pictures (if possible).
• Approach colleagues, management, contractors and third parties and give feedback on their (safety) behavior.
• Initiate and follow-up improvements in the area of SHEQ.
• Correctly follow all procedures and instructions.
