Job summary

JAPFA is a leading agribusiness company active in animal feed, poultry, farming, and related fields. They seek a Molecular Biology Lab Specialist to execute standard molecular biology workflows, manage samples, and document results.

The role requires hands-on lab work, attention to detail, and collaboration across teams in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 1+ years of lab experience, and strong English/Bahasa Indonesia communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in a molecular biology lab, preferably industrial or research.
• Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and techniques.
• Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis.
• Sequencing experience (Sanger/NGS) is a plus.
• Familiarity with LIMS is advantageous.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• English and Bahasa Indonesia communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing).
• Prepare and analyze samples with proper labeling, storage, and handling.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment (thermal cyclers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers).
• Document procedures, observations, and results in notebooks/databases.
• Perform data analysis and prepare reports.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols.
• Maintain a clean, safe lab environment and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments.
• Stay updated on new techniques and technologies.
• Assist in development and validation of new assays.

• Execute a variety of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and sequencing.
• Prepare and analyze samples, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and storage protocols are followed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including thermal cyclers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and genetic analyzers.
• Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and thoroughly in laboratory notebooks and databases.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation, drawing conclusions and preparing reports.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize experimental protocols as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Stay updated on new molecular biology techniques and technologies.
• Assist in the development and validation of new molecular assays.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
• Proven experience (1+ years) working in a molecular biology laboratory setting, preferably in an industrial or research environment.
• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of molecular biology principles and techniques.
• Proficiency in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis.
• Experience with sequencing technologies (e.g., Sanger, NGS) is a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
