Weconnor seeks a Merchandising Director based in Surabaya to lead a key client merchandising team across categories, aligning market activities with client strategies. You will drive growth, manage vendor relationships, and steer product development and procurement to meet market KPIs.

The role requires 15+ years in merchandising or global sourcing, with at least 10 years in senior management in multinational buying offices or retailers, and strong leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualificações

Role Overview:

To oversee the management of a key client merchandising team (all categories) with a view to achieving both office and corporate objectives with a keen focus on executing client objectives within the market.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead in-country client team to ensure efficiency in execution of their sourcing strategy, key initiatives, be able to cultivate strong vendor relationships and vendor performance to meet client market objectives and KPI’s.
• Drive business growth by working closely with client on their internal business strategies, forward business forecasting, be able align market activities to achieve both Connor and client growth potential, in line with Corporate and client strategic direction.
• Support team responsible for supplier and product development and build resources to support the growth of business, capturing opportunities and overcoming market threats.
• Lead client key initiatives within the market producing results to meet targets and timelines.
• Communicate closely with clients regarding market influences on business and actions relating to problem resolution.
• Direct & lead direct reports to meet changing business demands for client satisfaction in a timely manner.
• Develop teams and focus on building bench strength within all levels. Supervise, train and appraise the performance of direct reports and evaluate down lines.
• Develop and maintain a commitment to excellence and high service quality to meet the changing business demands to sustain long term business growth.
• Align with MD to prepare annual shipment and expense budget to ensure continuous growth, striving to exceed planned shipments; control expenses and plan manpower efficiently to meet budget.
• Anticipate changes which may impact sales volume, expenses, profitability and human resources requirements.
• Ensure appropriate procedures related to vendor selection, vendor technical strengths and weaknesses, production capacities and vendor shipment performances are in place. Work with team for regular vendor matrix review.
• Monitor team productivity in handling existing business and identifying new vendors.
• Collaborate and coordinate with QA and Technical counterparts to ensure all products routinely and consistently meet acceptable standards required by customers.
• Ensure Corporate financial, market and management reports are accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
• Perform additional duties as required to meet Company’s objectives

Education & Experience:

• Tertiary educated, preferably in business, merchandising, global sourcing or related disciplines.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, preferably with 10 years at senior management position in a multinational buying office or retailer.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience building and executing strategic framework for key clients that meet timelines and objectives.
• Using market knowledge, assess landscape to create sound sourcing strategies that meet both short- and long-term client needs.
• Possess experience building sourcing strategies and directing teams and vendors to influence and execute this vision.
• On the ground experience and knowledge in the home categories, with a focus on furniture and hard goods/lighting/dec acc.
• Keen sense of understanding on product development, merchandising, production management and alignment with master calendar milestones. Direct and coach teams, build strong processes to meet client KPI’s.
• Both project and process oriented; ability to implement processes into current practices to streamline and build efficiencies within the team.
• Knowledge and experience in the US market is required with previous work history as such.
• Strong management & leadership skills with experience in managing multi-dimensional teams.
• Focus on building cohesive, goal-oriented teams, building bench strength within the market.
