Job summary

Excelitas Technologies Corp. in Batam seeks a Materials Engineer to act as the technical SME for materials used in MedTech and Life Science manufacturing. You will support material selection, qualification, failure analysis, and continuous improvement to ensure product performance and reliability.

The role involves testing, characterization, development of material specs, and collaboration with engineering, quality and procurement teams to optimize yield and cost while meeting quality standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Fresh graduates with strong academic achievements encouraged to apply.
• Prior work experience in materials engineering or related field is preferred.
• Strong understanding of material properties, selection, qualification and reliability principles.
• Familiar with problem-solving methods: 5 Whys, Fishbone, DOE and statistical analysis.
• Six Sigma Green Belt training or exposure is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret technical data.
• Strong communication, leadership and project management skills.
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for materials used in manufacturing and products.
• Evaluate, qualify, and implement new/alternative materials.
• Lead material investigations and failure analysis for root causes and CAPAs.
• Design and conduct material testing, characterization and reliability studies.
• Develop material specifications, qualification plans and technical standards.
• Collaborate with Product/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Procurement on material projects.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance reliability, yield, and cost through material optimization.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health and safety requirements.
