Job summary

Scorpa Pranedya in Indonesia seeks a seasoned Marine Engineer to oversee vessel technical integrity, plan dry docking, and ensure compliance with MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISM Code. You will lead maintenance, audits, and vendor performance while coordinating with Masters, Chief Engineers, and shore teams.

This role demands strong leadership, budgeting skills, and the ability to respond rapidly to breakdowns and off-hire risks, delivering cost-efficient repairs and safe cargo operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or Naval Architecture.
• Strong knowledge of tanker regulations including MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISM Code.
• Experience in dry docking, shipyard repair, and technical project management.
• Understanding of PMS and fleet management software.
• Budget control, cost optimization, and vendor management.
• Strong leadership and communication; able to direct Masters and Chief Engineers.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Ensure vessels are technically sound and fit for service at all times.
• Monitor hull, machinery, and cargo systems performance.
• Plan, execute, and control dry docking, repairs, and maintenance.
• Enforce PMS with full compliance and zero backlog.
• Conduct vessel inspections and resolve deficiencies promptly.
• Ensure compliance with MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISM Code.
• Prepare and manage audits, surveys, and vetting inspections (SIRE/CDI).
• Close audit findings with corrective actions.
• Control technical budgets (OPEX/CAPEX) and ensure cost efficiency.
• Monitor spending on repairs, spare parts, and services.
• Manage procurement of technical materials and vendor performance.
• Coordinate with Master, Chief Engineer, and shore teams on technical matters.
• Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews.
• Respond to breakdowns, emergencies, and off-hire risks quickly.
• Ensure safe operation of cargo systems, including pumps and pipelines.
• Minimize risk of equipment failures and oil pollution incidents.
• Investigate technical incidents and implement preventive measures.
