Job summary

Mercure Jakarta Gatot Subroto is seeking a Laundry Attendant to handle, clean, dry, press, fold, and distribute hotel linen and guest laundry in line with quality and hygiene standards. You will operate washing and ironing equipment, maintain inventory, and support housekeeping with efficient service.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in laundry operations, housekeeping, hotel, or related hospitality environment is preferred.
• Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
• Basic knowledge of laundry processes, fabric care, and stain removal.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and classify soiled linen, uniforms, towels, and guest laundry according to type and washing requirements.
• Operate washing machines, dryers, ironing machines, and related equipment safely.
• Measure and use laundry chemicals and detergents per procedures.
• Inspect items before/after washing for cleanliness and quality.
• Remove stains using approved stain-removal procedures.
• Dry, iron, press, fold, and package linen and guest laundry to hotel standards.
• Maintain organization of the laundry area and report shortages or problems.

Job Description

Responsible for handling, cleaning, drying, pressing, folding, sorting, and distributing hotel linen, uniforms, guest laundry, and other fabrics in accordance with established quality, hygiene, safety, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and classify soiled linen, uniforms, towels, and guest laundry according to type, color, fabric, and washing requirements.
• Operate washing machines, dryers, ironing machines, pressing equipment, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
• Measure and use laundry chemicals and detergents according to established procedures.
• Inspect laundry items before and after washing to ensure cleanliness and quality.
• Remove stains using appropriate stain-removal procedures and chemicals.
• Dry, iron, press, fold, and package linen, uniforms, and guest laundry according to hotel standards.
• Ensure clean linen and uniforms are properly sorted, stored, and delivered to the appropriate departments.
• Handle guest laundry carefully and ensure items are returned accurately and on time.
• Report damaged, stained, missing, or heavily worn items to the Laundry Supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow proper procedures for handling chemicals, machinery, and potentially hazardous materials.
• Monitor laundry supplies and report shortages or equipment problems to the supervisor.
• Assist with inventory and linen counting when required.
• Follow hotel policies, occupational health and safety procedures, and hygiene standards.
• Maintain professional teamwork and provide support to other Housekeeping operations when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Laundry Supervisor or Executive Housekeeper.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in laundry operations, housekeeping, hotel, or related hospitality environment is preferred.
• Previous experience in a hotel laundry department is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of laundry processes, fabric care, and stain removal.
• Able to operate laundry equipment safely.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and handle laundry loads.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Responsible, disciplined, and reliable.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
