About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior High Mathematics Specialist to join our secondary teaching team at Sunrise School Bali. This is a full-time position based in Bali, Kerobokan that offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' mathematical development and confidence. As a Mathematics Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality mathematics instruction to junior high students, fostering their analytical skills, problem-solving abilities and genuine love for the subject. This role is integral to our mission of developing academically rigorous and intellectually curious learners.

What you'll be doing

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging mathematics lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities across junior high year groups

Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, mathematical reasoning and critical thinking

Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support learning

Develop and implement differentiated learning strategies to support both struggling learners and advanced mathematician.

Participate in curriculum development and review processes to ensure mathematics content remains current and relevant

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and achievements in accordance with school policies

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements and areas for development

Contribute to the broader school community through participation in extracurricular activities, school events and professional development opportunities

Run small weekly support groups for Mathematics

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related discipline

A recognised teaching qualification or certification recognised internationally (such as PGCE, or equivalent qualification)

Proven experience teaching mathematics at secondary level, particularly at junior high level

Strong subject knowledge with the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and engagingly

Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment

Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting students with varying abilities

Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute positively to school culture

Enthusiasm for professional development and commitment to continuous improvement

Experience with international curricula such as IB, Cambridge or similar frameworks is highly desirable

Previous experience teaching in international or expatriate school settings is advantageous
