About the role
We are seeking an IT Business Analyst (Insurance) to join PT ABISHAR TECHNOLOGIES client on a contract basis. This is a strategic role positioned within our Programme & Project Management function, where you will serve as a critical bridge between our technology and business teams in the insurance sector. Based in Jakarta Selatan, Jakarta Raya, you will play an integral role in translating complex business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring our insurance technology initiatives deliver measurable value and align with organisational objectives. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our digital transformation programmes whilst working with a dynamic and innovative technology team.

What you'll be doing

• Gather, analyse and document detailed business requirements from stakeholders and insurance domain experts to inform technology solutions and project scope
• Conduct comprehensive needs assessment and feasibility studies for insurance-related technology initiatives, identifying opportunities for process improvement and system optimisation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, quality assurance and project managers to ensure requirements are clearly communicated and accurately translated into technical specifications
• Develop business process models and user workflows specific to insurance operations, including underwriting, claims management, policy administration and customer engagement
• Create and maintain detailed documentation including functional specifications, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria aligned with insurance industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Perform gap analysis between current systems and proposed solutions, evaluating technical feasibility and recommending optimal implementation approaches
• Participate actively in project governance activities including requirements reviews, design walkthroughs, testing coordination and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Act as a subject matter expert on insurance business processes, providing guidance to technical teams and supporting knowledge transfer initiatives
• Monitor project progress against defined requirements and manage scope changes through formal change control processes
• Support post-implementation activities including issue resolution, performance optimisation and continuous improvement recommendations

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, with demonstrated expertise in the insurance industry or financial services sector
• Strong understanding of insurance business processes, including underwriting, claims management, policy administration, customer acquisition and retention
• Proven experience in gathering and documenting business requirements in a structured, clear and comprehensive manner
• Proficiency in creating business process documentation, workflow diagrams, use cases and functional specifications
• Solid knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and experience working within Agile or Waterfall project environments
• Experience with requirements management tools and business analysis software
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business challenges into manageable components
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with capability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Familiarity with insurance software systems, regulatory requirements or compliance frameworks is highly desirable
• Strong organisational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Experience with data analysis and SQL knowledge would be advantageous
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline
